The Koolau Mountains are a range of mountains located on the east side of the island of Oahu. The mountains are some of the most rugged on the island and offer some beautiful scenery and hiking trails. The Koolau Mountains also have numerous waterfalls, including Manoa Falls and Sacred Falls. We will take in the view from the Pali Lookout - the site of a bloody battle in 1795 in which King Kamehameha I forced hundreds of his opponents to jump to their deaths from the cliffs there in what was called the “Battle of the Leaping Fish.”
This stunning curved bay was formed by a collapsed crater, leaving behind pristine white sands and sparkling blue waters. What sets this place apart is its status as a protected cove and marine preserve. The rich coral reef here is teeming with an incredible variety of sea life.
We’ll take a scenic ride to the world-famous Halona Point blowhole. When the tides align just right, you'll witness a mesmerizing spectacle as waves surge through a submerged lava tube, creating a stunning geyser of seawater. And if you visit between December and May, keep your eyes peeled for the majestic humpback whales known to frequent these waters. Green sea turtles can also be spotted all year round.

This one of a kind Oahu adventure begins early in the morning at 6:30 am at which time you and your fellow guests will board an air-conditioned tour vehicle to begin the narrated scenic drive along the southern and eastern coasts of the island. The first stop on the tour is the Diamond Head/Amelia Earhart Lookout from which you can see incredible views of central Oahu and the surrounding area. As part of this stop you will also be able to grab a few Malasadas (Portuguese donuts) from Leonard’s Bakery. Continuing along the eastern coastline will bring you to Hanauma Bay Viewpoint which is perched atop a curved bay formed by a volcanic crater collapsing in on itself thousands of years ago.
The next stop is the famous Halona Point Blowhole where if the tide conditions are timed correctly you will be able to witness sea water rushing through an old lava tube and exploding into the air as high as 30 feet! As the tour continues your guide will take you to higher altitudes in the rugged Koolau Mountains to enjoy the incredible views from the Pali Lookout. While in the Koolau Mountains your guide will take you to the Tropical Macadamia Nut Farm where you will get to taste fantastic local coffee, chocolate, and of course macadamia nuts. Around midday you will reach the North Shore where you will stop for lunch at the Shrimp Truck and Kahuku Fruit Stand. Next up on the tour is the historic and bustling Haleiwa Town where you will have some time to stretch your legs, do some shopping and grab a couple of treats including ice cream, shave ice, and other local favorites. A stop at the Dole Pineapple Plantation will conclude the tour and give you a chance to buy souvenirs and try a frozen Dole Whip dessert. Depending on traffic, return time to your original pickup location will be between 2:45 - 3:30 pm.
