The road circling the backside of Maui to Hana is often under repair or fully closed to thru-traffic. Many tours have stopped scheduling on this route completely. Your tour route may be altered due to this issue.

Should we do Road To Hana or West Maui?

We prefer the road to Hana as it’s better set up for visitors with more stops, places to support the community, and great food options. We love having lunch out in Hana and getting back to the Westside to enjoy a spectacular sunset. For visitors who have already enjoyed the road to Hana and/or are returning visitors and want to get out to see something new, then the West Maui route is the perfect thing to do on Maui.
Will bad weather affect the tour?

Weather permitting, the trip includes activities such as swimming. But the weather on Maui’s East Side can definitely be unpredictable. We try to give your group the finest possible experience, rain or shine.
How long does it take to get to Hana?

The route for this tour is actually in reverse from the typical Road to Hana. We will drive through Upcountry Maui and then around the backside of Hana in an area called Kaupo. We should reach the actual town of Hana around lunchtime.
Do any of these tours include a visit to the summit of Haleakala?

Unfortunately, the summit will need to be visited on a different day. You will want to devote an entire morning or afternoon to enjoy Haleakala National Park and going to Hana or rounding West Maui on the same day will be too much. We can help arrange a visit to this location on another day so please ask our team to help you arrange that.
What is the most popular Maui tour?

Most visitors to Maui will, at one point, attempt the journey to Hana. There are two options to make this trip: the standard route, experiencing the rainforest in the morning or going around the backside (referred to as going in “reverse”) with its windswept open plains first. The most popular is to explore the rainforest in the morning, making your way around the island so you can see the sunset from Upcountry Maui at the end of the day.
