If there is one thing the Kona district of the Big Island is known for its coffee. The tour will kick off with a visit to the Premium Kona Coffee Farm where you will enjoy brewed Kona coffee and a delicious continental breakfast featuring local tropical fruit. As the tour continues you will head to Punalu’u Bake Shop to enjoy some fresh malasadas before checking out the Punalu’u Black Sand Beach. If you have never been to a black sand beach before, seeing the turtles at Punalu’u is sure to be a memorable experience.
After spending some time at the beach soaking up the sun while enjoying the company of turtles it will be time to head over to the Volcano Winery and Tea Farm for a gourmet Hawaiian-style lunch. The wine tasting is included as part of the tour, but it is completely optional and there will also be non-alcoholic beverages in the form of local teas and hot chocolate. Next up is arguably the Big Island’s most famous destination, Volcanoes National Park. This park is considered a must-see for visitors because it is one of the few places in the world where you can see both active volcanoes and lava, as well as the aftermath of past eruptions. As the afternoon continues you will be able to take a short hike down to the Thurston Lava Tube which is a massive 500-year-old cave created by lava that is 600 ft. long with a ceiling that can reach 20 ft high at certain points. As the tour wraps up, enjoy views of the iconic Rainbow Falls before following the spectacular Hamakua Coast back to Kona.
